Stockwell Elementary School Reviews

My daughter was in kindergarten there this year, and although I am not too impressed with how the school is ran I am more then pleased with her teacher Ms. Mahone. She is wonderful with the children and parents as well.

My son went to Stockwell from K-5th grade. If it had not been for a wonderful teacher that he had in his last 2 years he would have not learned to read at all! When this wonderful teacher got him in her class he could only read at a kindergarden level! This teacher took him from kindergarden to 3rd grade reading level! Without her I'm sure my son would have learned nothing from this school. I am sorry to say that my daughter will be starting this school in August.(we cannot afford to move out of this district) I certainly hope that my daughter gets a better education that my son did! I have made the superentendent aware of my feelings toward this school and some of it's staff, I do hope that in the future this school worries more about their learning disabled children than their I-Step tests.

My children were in second and third grade there. The teachers have no communication with parents, nor do they inform you if there are education issues with your child. The only time you will hear from this school is if your kids acts up or you owe them money!

I would not recommend this school if you have a disabled child! the care given was inexcusable to our daughter there are much better schools in evansville to choose and i recommend you do just that!

This school is so great. My daughter loves it so much and has such great friends. She says that the teachers are great.

My daughter is a first grade student at Stockwell. She has a wonderful teacher Mrs.Cates. She always gives that extra attention that is sooo important! This school has really got its stuff together! Keep up the good work.

I have two children, both attend/ed Stockwell. My son attended both the regular classroom as well as the resource rooms available at Stockwell. Through the cooperation of the staff and constant parental involvement, my son had a very positive experience at Stockwell. In fact, we give tribute to most of his academic accomplishments to the awesome teaching staff at Stockwell. My daugher is currently having a positive exerience and we feel she is receiving a five star education. I am aware that every school has its share of 'good' and 'bad' teachers; just as there are good and bad parents. Fortunately, I found that most of the teachers my children had were very willing to work with me and my child. Stockwell encourages parental involvement both in and outside of the school. The PTA is very strong at Stockwell and hosts activities to encourage parental invovlement and student support. Try it!

I have read the only review listed and it appears very subjective and inaccurate. I have a son who is and honor student at Indiana University (Carries a 3.97 in the honors chemistry program at IU and is completing his degree in his third year). I have a daughter that is a Junior in high school and carries a 4.0 G.P.A. I have a daughter that is an 'A' student and is presently in the 5th grade at Stockwell. The school is very open to parents visiting. I frequently visited the school for lunch with my children over the past 15 years. Each of my children have attended this school and I am very satisfied with the school. The school is located in a nice area and most of the staff is very courteous. There is a general consensus among parents that there is one uncooperative and discourteous teacher.

Not particularly organized. Children not allowed into the school until the morning bell rings. Insufficient supervision on playground. Only one or two staff to oversee the entire student population. There is a fence between the school and the playground. Nothing at all to prevent a child from being abducted or simply walking off. Principal is cocky and arrogant. Parents are discouraged from coming into the school. Although staff attempts to be helpful, you receive conflicting information. Lacks understanding that kindergarten children need help in adjusting to school life. We are simply not impressed.
