McGary Middle School Reviews

This school I would say is mediocre. I went there for 1 year and found that some of the teachers are cool like one of the science teachers there, but there are also some that I thought they were wasting my time. But it was a good year.

I think that McGary Middle School is an okay school. I went there for 1 year and found it a smart school. the students are little to self willed but they aren't to bad. the PTA is amazing. and the variety of sports just shocks you. but they expect a lot of students. not to much but just enough.

i am a student and mcgary is the best school in the world.they have nice teachers and great after school programs.and the reserve team made it to the CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!

Best thing going for the school is that it is a feeder school for Harrison High School. The smarter kids are bored and not mentally challenged. Average students are left alone because the teacher's time is spent with the class clowns. Principal is ok, Asst. Principal needs replaced. The school is mediocre.

I am very pleased with McGary School. It is my son's first year in middle school. I think that the faculty and staff seem very knowledgeable and that they have helped to make his transition from elementary to middle school very smooth. I am impressed with the administration. The principal and assistant principal are friendly yet firm and seem to have a genuine concern for the students. The extracurricular activities are light currently because of ISTEP testing, but from all appearances there will be many choices soon. Already, my son is taking advantage of a special class for percussion one afternoon a week and has plans to try for the basketball team. Our family has joined the PTA. There is a need for volunteers - I have had the opportunity to help a couple of times already. The other parents are friendly and welcoming!

This is my daughters first year in McGary Middle School, and I really appreciate how that they welcome the 6th graders coming from elementary, my daughter is very prepared for this year, thanks for the involvement of the teachers and the introduction to the new school year. Her teachers are very friendly and thorough with them about their classes and schedule. I am proud to have my daughter going to McGary for the next 3 years.

As an 8th grader of McGary, I should let you all know that it is a safe school. Of course we have fights, just like any other school. But people shouldn't say rediculous things about McGary just because of its location. We learn the same things as every other school. Just because our school is located next to the ghetto means nothing. If anything it makes us more unique because of the variety we have. I would say that McGary is the best school out there. Its a proven fact that we have the best science teacher for 8th grade! And people try to think they are so much better than us, McGary has made me grow into a young adult and it has taught me so much. I wouldnt trade schools for anything!! Thank you. MKM

we are off to a wonderful start this year, and i am so happy my daughter kelsea is a part of mcgary middle school. i have a 16 year old daughter who went to mcgary and did outstanding and here we are again and the year has been so full of fun and exciting times with of corse the learning exspriences that a child needs. i am a pta mom and belive in being involed at my childrens school. the teachers and the staff at mcgary have a wonderful affect on the kids and do their best to fit the needs of each child. i am so pleased to be apart of mcgary and i feel safe every morning sending my child to school knowing she is getting the best education and being treated with respect and learning to give it as well!thank you all over at mcgary!sylvia

As the mother of an 8th grade daughter at McGary and 2 sons who have went on to Harrison I am pleased with the education my kids have gotten here over the years. Any time there has been a problem it is always handled promptly and the teachers have always been more than willing to answer my questions or those of my kids when needed. No school is always going to be able to provide the one on one attention that every student may need at times and that's why I feel it's important that the kids themselves and the parents need to not be afraid to speak up and ask for help when it's needed. I'm very proud to be a McGary parent and wouldn't have had my kids any where else. Thanks Mr. Mosby and staff!

I feel like McGary could be a good school but the staff treat all children the same because if a few students dont want to learn or advance and a few just dont understand or are just a little slower but they really want to learn and want to advance but dont have a chance because they are thrown in the same category as the students who have no intrest in education. I dont think its fair for those students who just need the little extra explanations or one on one now, and then to be thrown in a catergory that they have no choice of being apart of the teachers just automaticly put them there. That to me is sad and a waste of our young minds and our future.
