Howard Roosa Elementary School Reviews

This school is a progressive neighborhood school. The principal is super positive and the teachers are wonderful. The principal says her school is the best kept secret in the city and I have come to believe it. Our children simply love this school!

As the current President of Howard Roosa'a PTA, I must comment that the parent involvement for the 2 years that my daughter has been there leaves a lot to be desired. I have had a core group of parents/grandparents/family members that have been more than willing to help. But I assure you that the number is not more than 8. Come on folks!

I'm sorry to say that Howard Roosa was a very disappointing experience for me and my children. The entire environment is depressing and the teachers are mediocre in a below average school. The behavior of the students makes it difficult for the students who are well-behaved.

As a parent of a child who was having concerns in kindergarten, I made the choice to move my son to Howard Roosa. He spent his elementary school days there and did FABULOUS.It truly is the best school in the area. My son moved on to Middle school this year, but the positive mark Howard Roosa has left on him will never be forgotten. The staff are all truly dedicated to each child. Alot of children in this school are low income, which provides for alot of GOVT grants and more opportunity for after school programs such as tutoring, spanish, cooking etc. I am happy to report that my grandson was able to start school at Howard Roosa this year and is doing FABULOUS.(transferred out of our home school to Howard Roosa under No Child left behind )
